This represents an early developing piece, where the shapes are drawn on paper covering the canvas and used as masks for the completed picture. As time has gone on, the meaning of the collection of shapes seems to become increasingly undefined - which ties in with the mainstream of contemporary art – so that our art becomes as it were a stranger to our own selves but at the same time conveys something which is real within the individual.
