This represents combs of Ancient Egypt constructed from various forms of ivory and where favourite design motifs were adopted from nature. These combs can be seen in the various national collections - Ashmolean, British Museum and the Petrie Collection. Refer to 'Chatter' for more details to be added. The blue line is the river Nile. The concept of the painting is that highly personal items can survive through spans of thousands of years.
